Build trust, communicate clearly, and contribute upwards with confidence.

Managing upwards is one of the most important skills in modern work – but one of the least talked about.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, unheard or unsure how to challenge upwards, you’re not alone. Managing upwards isn’t about controlling or fixing someone more senior – it’s about building a stronger, more collaborative relationship so your voice, your ideas, and your team’s needs are part of the picture.

In this practical, interactive workshop, you’ll explore what managing upwards really means. You’ll identify the key senior relationships that shape your work. You’ll  assess what’s working (and what’s not), and learn tools to improve communication, trust and strategic alignment.

Through activities like relationship mapping, personality insights and strategic thinking, you’ll leave with a personalized action plan to help you manage upwards with more confidence and clarity – whatever your role.

When individuals manage upwards well, senior leaders make better decisions, teams work more efficiently, and trust grows across the organization. Everyone wins.

What you’ll learn

  • What managing upwards really means – and why it matters
  • How to assess and improve your senior relationships
  • How to adapt your approach to different communication and personality styles
  • How to strengthen trust, visibility and alignment
  • How to think more strategically and connect your work to the bigger picture
  • How to apply the learning in real relationships at work

What makes this workshop different?

This session doesn’t assume the problem is “your boss”. It focuses on what you can do to strengthen the relationship, improve collaboration and lead with intention, no matter where you sit in the hierarchy.

Also navigating change, peers or cross-team dynamics?

This session helps you show up more confidently in your relationships with senior leaders.
If you’re preparing to lead projects, step into a broader role or work more effectively across your organization, we recommend pairing it with our 6-hour Influencing and Persuading workshop. It explores the psychology, strategy and communication skills needed for stakeholder buy-in and confident collaboration across teams.

Helping 'Teams' live up to its name

In this hands-on and practical session “Mastering Microsoft Teams Meetings”, we’ll show you how to turn Microsoft Teams from “just another video call” into a genuinely useful collaboration space. You may be leading meetings daily or occasionally. Either way you’ll learn how to use Teams features more intentionally to keep people engaged, focused, and clear on what happens next.

We’ll explore how small tweaks in preparation. Setting agendas, using the Teams lobby, and using presenter roles can transform how your meeting flows. You’ll also get a feel for all the hidden gems in Teams. These include immersive spaces, polls, whiteboards, and breakout rooms, that help bring energy and clarity to your virtual get-togethers.

You’ll come away with not just technical know-how, but also the confidence to shape meetings that are thoughtful, engaging, and productive – every single time.

This workshop can be delivered as a standalone workshop, or as the perfect addition to ‘Fixing Meetings’. This workshop explores  all of the features that people overlook at the point they create meetings. Mastering Microsoft Teams Meetings helps your people use Teams to create purposeful, structured, inclusive meetings. The same managed and productive meetings that we champion in Fixing Meetings.

The Quiet Power of Kindness at Work

It’s often thought that, as leaders, we have to choose between a kind working environment or a high-performing one. The Graham Allcott KIND keynote sets out to prove that kindness actually drives success.

Based on the scientific research and leadership principles from Graham Allcott’s book KIND, this keynote will show you how kind acts lead to higher levels of teamwork, innovation and productivity as well as help shift work culture and society at large to something better.

A bit about Graham…

Graham’s transition from charity chief executive to freelance consultant inspired him to set up Think Productive. With a mission to revolutionize stuffy time management courses, Think Productive launched in April 2009, earning rave reviews and loyal clients such as American Express, Blue Rubicon, Warner Bros, eBay, and PayPal.

Graham's approaches to time and attention management takes cover the demands of both work life and home life so great for helping with work/life balance too. Really different to anything like this that I have ever done before- I would definitely recommend (and already have!)

A follow-up clinic with your Productivity Ninja to stay accountable, reflect, and celebrate new habits.

Our mission is to inspire lasting work transformation. We design our workshops to maximize impact and make new habits stick. But we’re all human. We know what it’s like to leave a workshop with the best of intentions. In the absence of accountability and continued momentum however, it can be easier to go back to old habits. Our Implementation Clinic is designed to overcome this.

The solution is simple: your people know they’ll be meeting up again after the workshop. So they are held accountable whilst being supported to keep up the new habits. That is where the magic happens – the sweet spot.

Our Clinics empower learners to create sustainable change that fosters a culture of continuous learning. By promoting reflection and shared experiences, we cultivate a supportive environment where learners can thrive – together.

Key benefits of an Implementation Clinic:

  • Reinforcement and application: reinforce the concepts, skills, and strategies learned in the workshop. Participants apply what they learn in a supportive environment, so that they internalize and implement it effectively .
  • Accountability and follow-through: participants can set goals, celebrate progress, and receive feedback, which increases their motivation to follow through with the workshop’s teachings and make sustainable changes.
  • Personalized attention: troubleshoot specific challenges, reflect, and receive tailored guidance from their Productivity Ninja.
  • Cost-effective: by leveraging the benefits of group dynamics, participants can access high-quality group coaching to maximise the learning ROI.

Get email overload under control to gain clarity, focus and produce your best work.

If your inbox is out of control and email is taking over your working life, fear not – there is another way. The Productivity Ninja’s Email Survival Guide.

We’ll look at the psychology of what makes email stressful and help you to re-evaluate its place in your working day, so that you can create the space for you to focus on creating real impact in your work.

By the end of the keynote you will have the tools and the empowered mindset to get your email all under control in the space of a couple of hours.

You’ll see email in a completely different way and learn to love it again.

This interactive seminar can be condensed to 90 minutes (with a little less conversation and action-planning).  If that better suits your event or group we can explore these options together. If you absolutely want to implement these changes on the day with a smaller group, we have another option. Our “Getting your Inbox to Zero” 3 hour practical workshop works for a group ready, willing and online. They will finish the training with Inbox Zero!

engagement

Understanding human motivation to energize and inspire your team.

With employee engagement at an all-time low, it’s time to get to grips with human motivation.

Nearly six in ten employees are “quiet quitting” (Gallup). That is putting in the bare minimum effort to keep their jobs, but no longer going the extra mile. This disengagement is costing businesses billions in lost productivity, innovation, and increased turnover.

Do you see?:

  • people not speaking up in meetings
  • little volunteering for tasks
  • habitual absenteeism
  • lost momentum on projects
  • a general lack of drive to improve processes

All these manifestations of disengagement hurt your bottom line and can spread like contagion.

But here’s the good news: this trend is not inevitable. While the world continues to change, the fundamental principles of human motivation stay the same. By understanding the 7 work-based emotional needs that drive engagement, your Managers and Team Leaders can proactively transform their team’s energy, happiness, and performance.

In this practical, hands-on workshop, your Managers will:

  • Gain a deep understanding of what truly motivates humans at work
  • Identify the best areas for improvement in their team right now
  • Prepare for more meaningful and effective 1:1 conversations to boost performance
  • Learn practical strategies to help each team member become their most motivated, energized, and engaged self.

This session makes managers better people leaders and budding aficionados in individual motivation.

We recommend you consider pairing this engagement workshop with our “Thriving Teams” session, which dives into the key elements of a thriving culture—equipping Managers with practical strategies for building trusting, resilient, and high-performing teams.
